Troubleshooting

Buffering, Lag or Black Screen? 8 Fixes in Under 2 Minutes

Short answer

For buffering, move closer to your router, close other tabs and test your speed. For a black screen with sound, toggle hardware acceleration and reload. Never install a “player” or “codec” to fix playback.

Nothing kills the mood like a spinning wheel. Most stream problems come from five causes, and each has a fast fix. Find your symptom, apply the fix, move on.

Try fixes top to bottom — most issues clear within two steps.

The 2-minute reset routine

  • Refresh the page once (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R for a hard refresh)
  • Close every tab except the stream
  • Restart your browser
  • Reboot your router if the speed test is far below your plan
  • Update your browser — old versions cause odd playback bugs
A fix should never be a download

If a page says you must install a “video player”, “codec” or “speed booster” to watch, close it. It’s a standard malware lure. See our safety checks.

People also ask

Why does my stream keep buffering?

Usually weak Wi-Fi or too many apps using bandwidth. Move closer to the router, close other tabs and run a speed test.

Why is my screen black but I can hear sound?

It’s often a hardware-acceleration or browser glitch. Toggle hardware acceleration, update the browser and reload.

Do I need to install a video player?

No. Legitimate streams play in a normal browser. A prompt to install a player or codec is a red flag.
